With the festive period over, we’re looking forward to a more positive 2022.

Preston Here For Humanity ensured families visiting their food hub received a turkey for Christmas
Preston Here for Humanity ensured their service users wouldn’t go without a turkey this Christmas by distributing them to their food hub users.
The turkeys were supplied by DPS Direct Poultry Supply, and the 100 turkey donation was worth £1,200.
Night-time spire tours return to St Walburge’s
People with a head for heights can climb to the top of St Walburge’s.
The Ashton-on-Ribble church’s popular Spire at Night tours will be running on Saturday 15 and Saturday 22 January.
Visitors will be able to ascend the 309ft (94m) high spire – the third tallest in the United Kingdom, and the tallest on a parish church.
South Ribble school top of the class for outside classroom learning
Ashbridge Independent School in Hutton has received national recognition for its commitment to taking learning outside the classroom (LOtC) and has been awarded the national LOtC Mark (Gold) by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, the highest award of its kind.
As part of the further development of outdoor learning, a challenging low ropes course has just been completed in one of the school’s private woodlands.
SPAR City of Preston 10K 2022 date confirmed
The SPAR City of Preston 10K is set to take place on Sunday, 25 September 2022 at 9.30am.
The Running Bee, in partnership with SPAR, people are invited to join Preston’s most popular 10K race, starting in the heart of Preston town centre.

Lancashire County Council opens small grants to organisations in Preston and Lancashire
A scheme which will give small grants to community, voluntary and faith groups has launched this week.
The initiative, the Local Member Grants Scheme, will see each county councillor being given an annual budget so they can provide funds to groups in their area.
These grants can be used to fund everything from games equipment and books, to computer tablets or trips out.
