Bomb disposal on the scene as World War II grenade found in Walton-le-Dale

A grenade from World War II has been found in Walton-le-Dale.

Two members of the public found the grenade with a metal detector by the River Ribble at the bottom of London Road.

Police were called at around 5pm today (Monday 24 January).

People were asked to avoid the area as Royal Logistic Corps Bomb Disposal attended the scene and confirmed the grenade was inert.

A spokesperson for Preston Police said: “We are grateful for the fast response from bomb disposal.”
