A warm welcome awaits everyone

This year, St George the Martyr are hosting several events to celebrate Christmas.

On Sunday, December 5 at 6.30pm there will be an Advent Carol Service where attendees will gather in candlelight. A sequence of music, hymns and readings will be offered as the congregation journeys towards the celebration of Christmas.

It will be a lovely, gentle way to start this special time of year.

It will be held in the spectacular surroundings of St George’s Church and refreshments will be served after the service.

An informal service will be held outside at the Carols on the Market service.

People will be able to sing many of their favourite carols and listen to the Christmas story once again.

This event will be held Saturday, December 11 and those attending Carols on the Market will get 10 per cent discount at Brew & Bake.

Nine lessons and Carols by Candlelight is another traditional service which will be held in candlelight and will take place Sunday, December 19.

There are lots of Christmas events to choose from this year

Carols and readings will fill church-goers with the Christmas spirit, and refreshments will be served afterwards.

The church are also hosting Midnight Mass, which is the perfect way to begin your Christmas celebrations (Saturday, December 25).

Beginning in darkness and then bursting into light as attendees mark the moment of Jesus Christ’s birth, the event is a great opportunity to worship God at the beginning of Christmas day.

There will also be Mass of the Day held to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

This triumphant service will include traditional Christmas carols and readings which will recall the story of the greatest miracle the world has ever seen.

Te Bishop of Burnley, Rt Revd Philip North will be leading the Christmas Day service this year.

Fr David said: “Come and join us as we celebrate once again the events of Christmas, the greatest miracle the world has ever seen. Everyone is invited and a warm welcome awaits. We’d love to meet you.”
