Penwortham last week celebrated the return of the annual Christmas market as traders sold food and items to delighted residents.

Liverpool Road businesses joined stallholders, rides and Santa as local groups showcased the town offering on Wednesday, 15 December.

Vincents Solicitors joined Penwortham’s Original No. 1 Fairham Gin at a stall outside the branch at 72 Liverpool Road, hosting a celebratory evening as part of the event.

Jemma Lloyd, head of Vincents Penwortham branch, said: “It was fantastic to have the Christmas Market back, and the community certainly came out to show their support for local businesses and traders, many of whom have been hit hard by Covid restrictions.

“Liverpool Road was packed to the rafters all evening, and people were having a really wonderful time. I’m so glad we teamed up with No.1 Fairham. Their gin is lovely, and everyone was so impressed that they’re actually from our home town.

“They were pretty much sold out by the end of the night, with more orders for delivery. We also loved meeting so many of the other local businesses for a bit of fun, and I was delighted to welcome lots of our clients, who popped by for a celebratory tipple.”

Jemma said the town council did a wonderful job bringing the Christmas spirit back to Penwortham.

She said: “It’s really sparked our imaginations, and we’re going to get more involved next year and do what we can to help support this fantastic annual event.”

Offering free G and Ts, tasters and a chance to win a free bottle of the locally produced Ochre Edition, No. 1 Fairham Gin’s end of the street proved popular throughout the night, and the team had more than 200 competition entries.
