Galloway’s gardening club wins award from Royal Horticultural Society and North West in Bloom

A Penwortham gardening club run by blind and partially sighted people has won an award.

Volunteers at the gardening club at sight loss charity Galloway’s have been honoured with an Outstanding commendation from Royal Horticultural Society and North West in Bloom’s 2021 ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ award.

Jim Towersey, who leads the club, which meets every Wednesday, said: “We are over the moon to have won this award. Everyone has worked really hard to get this.

“We now have four Outstanding awards, so if we get another next year we will get the gold award, which could be absolutely fantastic.”
