The flood alert was removed at 8am on Friday 31 December.

A flood alert has been issued for Preston and South Ribble as heavy rainfall sees river levels rising.

Areas most at risk of flooding are the lower River Ribble from Samlesbury and the River Darwen from Darwen including Preston, Walton-le-Dale and Higher Walton.

The alert has been in place since 5pm today (Thursday 30 December), with river levels expected to remain high overnight.
