The much-loved regular Christmas feature on the Flag Market has sadly been vandalised.

Preston City Council took to Twitter to appeal for the safe return of Jesus.

The tweet said: “We need your help!

“Sadly, Preston’s well-loved nativity scene has been vandalised & baby Jesus is missing. This is a very popular scene with residents and visitors.

“Please bring him to the Town Hall before Christmas, so he can be returned to the display. Thank you.”

The council’s maintenance team have since repaired the crib, and a temporary replacement figurine has been put in place until Jesus is returned.
