A mum from Preston has launched a toy appeal to ensure children on ward eight at Royal Preston Hospital receive a present this Christmas.Advertisement
Lorna Connors has two children: Seren who is almost four and Liam who has just turned two.
Lorna wanted to launch a toy appeal as her son Liam has been taken care of at RPH many times.

Lorna said: “Every time Liam has a cold, or cuts a tooth, we end up on ward eight.
“The staff are fantastic on here and do everything they can to look after the children but also the parents too.
“We almost lost our Liam last year and he ended up in high dependency, which is something I don’t think I have really come to terms with until very recently.
“Liam has had a total of nine admissions since last September 2020, due to his chest and so we almost find ourselves there quite a lot especially through the winter months.
“The toys are only as good as the donations they receive, which have to be brand new due to Covid-19.
“My ask, which is a big ask, is that people who can, spare an extra toy for one of the children on the ward on Christmas Day.
“They will be wrapped up by the play team for the inpatient children to open. The other gifts will be put into the toy boxes to refresh the toys already on the ward.”
There are children from birth up until 19-years-old on the ward.
Lorna hopes to have all items donated the week of December 13.
