Police yesterday found an axe during a weapons sweep near a Fishwick play area.
AdvertisementOn Monday 15 November, Lancashire Police searched a Preston estate under national knife crime initiative Operation Sceptre.
They discovered a red-handled axe in bushes near a children’s playground, which they believe was placed strategically for quick use by criminals.

The public informed the police that the area was a known drug dealing hotspot and likely to have concealed weapons.
Earlier in 2021, officers visited local schools to educate children about the dangers of knives and the repercussions faced by those who get involved with crime.
They also test purchased knives in shops and conducted other sweeps.
