Further details can be found on a specially commissioned page of remembrance which can be found here.

On the page of remembrance, comments, pictures and donations can be made to causes that were important to Donny.

Gareth Dyer, Director of Rugby at the club said: “Donny died after battling a short illness. He fought it courageously but despite exhausting all treatment avenues he passed away on Wednesday.

“He was a proud Scotsman, family man and loved his rugby. At Hoppers he dealt very much individually with the players. He was an analytical coach able to help players improve their game and understanding but he was also a champion of looking after players as people.

“Throughout lockdown he regularly contacted all members of our playing squad to check in and make sure no one was left struggling due to the restrictions we were living with.

“He was able to support players in a non judgemental way and they all saw him as a trusted confident. He was also determined that when we were able to resume training that we were totally prepared. In his words, Covid wasn’t going to be allowed to spread around our squad.

“He was good fun with a mischievous sense of humour and he leaves a big hole in our club.”
