A giant polar bear has been spotted heading north up the A6 in Fulwood today (Sunday 17 October).

Photos shared with Blog Preston show the three-metre tall bamboo and paper polar bear, named Clarion, being pulled along in a trailer near The Black Bull.

Creator and artist Bamber Hawes is walking 306 miles with Clarion from Shrewsbury to the UN’s COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

According to Clarion’s website, the aims of the 22-day journey are to walk, to talk, to connect with each other, and to connect with the landscape by moving through it slowly, admiring its beauty and grandeur.
