Police have returned a swan to its family on the Lancaster Canal.

Officers responded to reports of the swan being ‘lost, confused and endangering road users’ in Tag Lane in Ingol.

A spokesperson for Preston Police said: “Preston Neighbourhood Policing Team and South Rural Taskforce attended, safely detained and transported the offender back to the canal and its waiting family. Just words of advice on this occasion!”

The swan family is no stranger to drama, with a swan going on walkabout in Ingol last year and another being rehomed in Southport after crash landing in an Ashton backyard.
