Mindsmatter and First Step to signpost their services at Preston parkrun

Mindsmatter and First Step services will be promoting their services at the Preston parkrun in Avenham Park this Saturday (9 October).

Mindsmatter and First Step services are an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service and they offer free NHS talking treatment for anxiety, stress and depression across Preston, Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The services are provided by Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) and everything offered is free.

Mindsmatter support the population of Lancashire, and First Step for those in South Cumbria.

One in four people in the UK will experience mental health problems each year.

Mindsmatter and First Step offer a range of brief therapeutic interventions across our localities to support people’s differing emotional needs. 

They can help with a variety of problems including:

•             Panic Disorder

•             Depression (including post-natal)

•             Generalised Anxiety Disorder (Chronic Worry)

•             Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

•             Phobias

•             Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

•             Health Anxiety

•             Social Anxiety

They offer the following therapy and treatment:

•             Courses and Groups – quick to access and can help boost your confidence

•             One-to-One Sessions – available with different types of clinician

•             Online Therapy Programmes – quick to access and fit around your lifestyle

They offer tailored support to meet your needs and can deliver this through online, telephone and face-to-face treatment sessions.

By promoting their services at the parkrun, they hope to increase public awareness of services so more people can access the mental health support they need.

It is important to normalise accessing support, and the promotion will coincide with World Mental Health day weekend.

Often, people feel like they are not ‘unwell enough’ to receive support, and therefore struggle alone.

Mindsmatter and First Step want to break that stigma and encourage anyone who is experiencing stress, anxiety or depression to come forward and see what treatment is available.
