Preston was lit up last night for Mayor of Preston’s Covid thank you torchlight parade and fireworks.

The event, which was also the grand finale of the Lancashire Encounter festival, took place on Saturday 2 October.

The torchlight parade began at Moor Park and finished in the city centre.

It saw a mix of vehicles and walking participants, with proud Prestonians parading alongside acts from further afield.

A tribute to keyworkers, the event was designed as an opportunity for the city to celebrate those who have sacrificed and worked hard to support Preston through the pandemic.

A spectacular 10-minute firework display followed the parade. Commissioned as part of the city’s Welcome Back Fund action plan, the fireworks were funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Blog Preston broadcast live from the event on IGTV. You can can view the videos below or go to Instagram to watch the parade and the fireworks.
