The Lancashire Best Kept Village Awards has named a Hutton school the best-kept in the county.
AdvertisementAfter being nominated by a resident, a team of judges visited the Ashbridge Independent School and Nursery in the summer.
The judging committee was taken on a tour of the grounds and observed the large kitchen garden, tomatoes growing in the greenhouse, beehives, the vast meadow with a 140-year-old oak tree, paved orchard and the many plants and flowers.

The school was invited to an awards ceremony at Eaves Hall Clitheroe, sponsored by Lancashire Life, Barton Grange and Eaves Hall, and was delighted to receive first place in the Schools Outstanding Features Award.
Penelope Brindle collected the award, and the school thanked its grounds team.
They said the children also play their part by working hard in their gardening lessons, developing a love for the natural world and respecting their surroundings.
