These are the items needed to help Afghan refugees in South Ribble

A donation to help the refugees

South Ribble Council took to social media to announce they needed donations to support the rehousing of Afghan Refugees.

Working in partnership with Age Concern Central Lancashire Charity Shops the council are working to gather donations from the local community to help with our rehousing of Afghan refugees.

They are currently seeking donations to furnish houses such as kitchenware and cooking utensils, furniture for living rooms and bedrooms, small electrical items such as lamps and toasters.

Here is the full list of wanted items:

Kitchen Items

  • Cutlery Sets
  • Cooking utensils ie. Potato peeler, tin opener, cheese grater etc.
  • Mugs, Glasses and Cups
  • Chopping boards
  • Bowls and Plates
  • Pans and pots
  • Oven Trays and Oven dishes
  • Electric Kettle, Toaster, pressure cooker
  • Bins, mops, brushes, cleaning equipment
  • Tea towels

Living Room

  • Dining Table and Chairs
  • Three seater sofa
  • Armchair
  • Book case
  • Coffee table / nest of tables
  • Net Curtains / Blinds / Curtains

Bedrooms

  • Double bed, mattress,  headboard, Thich Double Blanket and Duvet cover
  • Single beds, mattress, single duvent and cover and sheets
  • Bunk beds, matress, duvets , covers and sheets
  • Pillows, Fitted Sheets, duvet covers
  • Wardobes
  • Chest of draws
  • Curtains and blinds

Additional Items

  • Lampshades
  • Hoover
  • Ironing Board
  • Towels
  • Mirrors
  • Coat hangers

They are not able to accept

  •  Microwaves
  •  Larger white goods
  •  Sofas and Armchairs, cushions, mattresses, headboards that don’t have fire labels attached
  •  Baby Car seats, Gas items, cot mattresses

If you have small items, you can take them to your nearest Age Concern.

For larger items, please contact Age Concern Central Lancashire on 01772 250773 or email collections@ageconcerncl.org.uk and they will arrange to collect the items from you and transfer it to the storage unit until required.

Please also note that any surplus items or items not required by the refugees will be sold via the Age Concern Central Lancashire shops and proceeds will be retained by them to support people in the Local area. If you are not happy with this then please let the charity know so they can make alternative arrangements.
