A fundraiser has been started to raise £1,000 for amenities for Royal Preston Hospital’s ward eight.
It is a small parents room with basic amenities, and it’s invaluable space to store and cook a quick meal or grab a snack, meaning they don’t need to leave their children for too long going off the ward.
Currently, there is no freezer for the parents kitchen and a small old fridge that is in need of updating.
The nurses care about the families of patients as much as they care for the children.

The team want to raise enough for a large fridge freezer which as a team we will continue fund raising to keep stocked with meals, snacks, drinks and other small essentials to keep parents healthy and fed to enable them to use all the energy on helping their children get better.
They are also aiming to have every day necessities and toiletries for parents to take and use if they have not been able to bring or if they are struggling financially and too embarrassed to say.
Covid has had a big impact on everyone and due to this pandemic hospital staff are asking parents to not leave the ward into the main hospital as much as possible to avoid transmission to our patients.

This sometime means parents can not get food and necessities from the shop or bought in for them and as team who believe in family centred care we want to make an already upsetting time for children and families easier in anyway we can.
George Bailey, Public Relations and Communications Manager, said: “The Trust has many colleagues who actively fundraise to purchase items to make areas more comfortable and more fulfilling for our patients and visitors.
“We wish the team well in their efforts and are very grateful for their support.”
