Preston MakeFest to be held at The Harris this weekend

On Saturday 28 August Preston MakeFest will take place in the Harris for an afternoon expo event. 


Prestonians are being invited to attend the’s very first showcase event, where Preston’s community of digital makers will demonstrate their projects, passion and talent.

They aim to inspire and engage others to learn more about affordable hobbies and exciting projects, as well as opportunities for careers in STEM and digital making.

On show:

  • Easy to make projects with micro:bits | Rachel and Lara
  • Fun challenges in Super Mario Maker | Dan and Theo
  • Creating software from the age of 8 | Josh
  • The cardboard museum of computers | Alan
  • Building a full size, working humanoid | Garry
  • Modelling planetary globes & spacecraft | Kevin
  • Inventing an automatic watering can | Spencer
  • Robots that compete against other robots | Brian
  • Building low-cost computers without tools | Tom
  • Winning ways to develop and sell games | Anthony
  • Plus… school projects and family learning fun

Preston MakeFest is organised by members of Preston #RJam community and employees of with the permission of Preston City Council.

During lockdowns, events have been held online, but this will be the first post-pandemic event being held in person.
