The former Perry’s Motor Village in Blackpool Road is to become an affordable housing estate.

Plans have been submitted to turn the car dealership into 31 houses and 42 apartments/maisonettes.

The application is recommended for approval with conditions including a sustainable drainage system and existing trees and hedgerows retained unless marked for removal amongst other conditions.

The dwellings will include 21 two-bedroom houses, ten three-bedroom houses, six two-bed apartments, 24 one-bed apartments and 12 one-bedroom maisonettes.

The scheme now proposes one new access point onto Blackpool Road, which will serve the majority of units on the site.

All of the new buildings will be afforable.

All dwellings will be provided with two in-curtilage car parking spaces, and each maisonette one car parking space, with all dwellings and maisonettes provided with an electric vehicle charging point.

Car parking for the apartment block would be provided to the side and rear with one car parking space provided per apartment, and five of these spaces having an electric vehicle charging point.

The apartment car park would also include a cycle storage building and two bin stores.

The decision for the application will be discusses on Thursday 5 August.
