The National Heritage Lottery Fund (NHLF) has given Mirador and the Ribble Rivers Trust the go-ahead to submit a development application with the aim of delivering the full, ambitious programme over a further three years.
The programme, which is called River Ribble Expo – A Liquid History, will feature Preston prominently and will include Avenham & Miller Parks and Winckley Square.
Friends of Winckley Square are a long-standing supporter of the project and its aspirations.
Residents are being urged to complete a questionnaire to emphasise the need for the project.

It is a form with simple tick boxes which will not take long.
Locals need to demonstrate to the decision makers that there is a great appetite in this part of Lancashire for projects that celebrate the local heritage, that recognise the importance the Ribble has had for this area over millennia and to provide a platform for local groups committed to the promotion of the arts and culture.
