Police believe no suspicious circumstances as body of man found in Avenham Park woods

 A man has been found dead in a park in Preston.

The body was discovered in Avenham Park near the city centre this morning (Friday, July 16).

It followed calls to police that a member of the public had been found ‘unresponsive’ in a wooded area of the park.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and found the body of a man.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, police said.

The age and identity of the man has not yet been released.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We were called to Avenham Park, Preston, at 8.15am today (July 16) following reports a member of the public had found a man unresponsive in a wooded area.

“Emergency services attended and, sadly, the man was pronounced deceased.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course.”
