A number of £400 micro commissions are available as part of the upcoming Lancashire Encounter.
Derelict: Art of the City is looking for six artists to occupy its Preston city centre shop-based engagement project, We Are Open, for four days each.
The collaboration is open to Lancashire-based artists at all stages of their career or practice. Involvement in grassroots arts would be preferable, and proposals are particularly welcomed from diverse and underrepresented communities.
Each successful artist will occupy the shop for four days over one given week between 11 August and 25 September. They will also assist in the evaluation of the shop’s engagement at the end of the process.

A spokesperson for Derelict said: “The project emanates from the global community’s eventual emergence from the pandemic, and its themes take inspiration from the trailblazing social justice movements that have risen up during the crisis.
“Collaborating artists will employ their practice in a series of artistic encounters with the public, sharing their own personal agency within the wider context of the project’s activity.”
Artists can submit a proposal via this Google form by 9am on 19 July.
