There are delays at the M61 northbound

The M65 eastbound (J1A, DVSA Roundabout) at Bamber Bridge, to Junction 1 (Bamber Bridge, the M6) is currently closed.

This is due to a spillage in the carriageway.

Lancashire Road Police are currently at the scene, and maintenance crews are on the way to assist at the scene.

Lancashire Police tweeted saying there are 40 minute delays as a result on the M61 Northbound towards M65, 30 minute delays on M65 Westbound J4-2 and 25 minute delays on M6 Northbound J28-29.

They asked drivers to avoid the area if possible.

Delays are likely for several hours due to road resurfacing on the M65 following the earlier oil spill.

Closures are in place from J29A BLACOW to M65M65 J1 to end WestboundM65 North to M65 West.

Police have said they will provide another update when they can.
