Tributes as popular Preston ice cream seller Eric Post dies

Popular Preston ice cream seller Eric Post has died at the age of 88.

Preston Markets trader, Sheridans Bags, shared the news on Twitter, describing Mr Post as a ‘legend’.

The tweet said: “Sad to hear we’ve lost Preston legend Eric Post. Renowned ice cream seller and ex-market trader.

“We’ll miss your stories Eric and will be having a cornet this weekend in your honour.”

People responded with sadness to the news.

Tim Joel said: “Very sad news, Eric was a true gent” while Jenny Simpson said: “Sad to hear this, big fan of Post’s ice cream van.”

Local photographer Joe Gudgeon also described the ex-market trader as ‘legendary’ in a tweet, saying: “I’m sad to hear of Eric’s passing.”
