A popular café which helps fund the important work of a Lancashire charity is looking for more dedicated volunteers to join its friendly team.
The Mill café in Lostock Hall is owned and run by St Catherine’s Hospice, with proceeds used to help fund the specialist care provided to local people affected by life-shortening illnesses.

The Mill was extended early last year to accommodate more customers and host special events, and more volunteer café assistants are now required to lend a hand for two to four hours a week.

Elaine Williams has recently reduced her hours working on the chemotherapy unit at Chorley hospital. She started volunteering at The Mill a couple of months ago and is really enjoying the experience.
She said: “I love the camaraderie and the fact that everybody is so appreciative of what you’re doing. It’s a really nice place to be.
“You do feel like you’re doing some good because it’s for a charity, but I get an awful lot from it myself too. I’m making new friends and I feel very much part of the team, it gets me out of the house and I’m doing some good for other people.”
