We’ve had plenty of news to bring you from Preston over the past week.

Frustrated patients were unable to make appointments at GPs in Lancashire, and a rogue trader who scammed Preston and South Ribble residents was jailed.

Here are five of the stories you may have missed this week.

Avenham Park Pavilion Café closed due to coronavirus cases

The Pavilion Café had to close its doors following a couple of staff members testing positive for Covid.

Other staff members who had been in contact with them are currently now self-isolating.

The Pavilion is hosting a wedding on Saturday 12 June, so a deep clean is currently underway to ensure that it is safe and ready for the big day.

Successful shift for police dog Shadow with arrests in Preston and Chorley

Police dog Shadow had a successful shift this week, helping with two separate arrests in Preston and Chorley.

After being sent to a burglary in Preston by the Force Incident Manager, PD Shadow found the suspect inside the address.

A pursuit in Chorley followed straight after, and with two out of three suspects detained, PD Shadow tracked and located the third suspect who was hidden in bushes.

Crystal Hairbows make and sell handmade special hair bows, headbands and a wide selection of other hair accessories including clips, bows, and bobble.

Dog rescued by South Ribble Police finds new home

A dog that was rescued by South Ribble Police has found a new home only a week later.

The dog was being mistreated by his owner and had very severe skin conditions and other issues that had been caused by his neglect.

He was seized for his own welfare last week and he already has a new home lined up!

Preston man arrested after city centre stabbing

A 22-year-old man from Preston is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of assault – GBH following a stabbing in the city centre on Saturday 5 June.

The incident occurred at around 3.30pm when a man in his 20s was assaulted by several other males in Grafton Street, close to Fishergate Hill. During the attack he was stabbed in his lower back.

The man is now making a good recovery after being taken to hospital by air ambulance.
