Two lanes have been closed on the M6 northbound due to an overturned lorry.
The incident happened this afternoon (Monday 10 May) between J31 and J31a when the lorry and a car collided.
Images shared to social media show the lorry on its side on the hard shoulder, and jackknifed up on to the embankment.
Highways England on Twitter said Lancashire Road Police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, and North West Ambulance Service are all at the scene.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Three fire engines from Preston and Fulwood, and the Urban search and rescue team from Bamber Bridge were called to a road traffic collision on the M6 northbound near junction 32.
“Firefighters used cutting equipment to release one person from a vehicle whilst another person was released from their vehicle by a member of the public.”
Congestion is currently back to J29 on the M6, and back to J9 on the M61.
