New street art has appeared in Preston city centre.

Some of the work is by local group Boo Who Up North, which has pasted its ‘blazing ape’ design to walls in Lowthian Street, the alley next to The Black Horse.

Posts on the group’s Instagram show the work being pasted up on Friday (30 April).

A spokesperson for Boo Who said: “We’re just brightening up an otherwise dull alleyway. Albeit for the fantastic graffiti on Willy Banjo there is nothing nice to look at, even the rats have started complaining.

“We’re bombarded with so much commercial crap in our public spaces it seems fitting to reclaim the back streets for something a little more fulfilling.”

Blog Preston understands another person, who has ‘never done anything like this before’, has added a ‘Buy the ticket, take the ride’ design in Old Cock Yard.

The guerrilla art follows in the footsteps of Lancashire Photography Festival.

Festival organiser Garry Cook will be hosting a livestream walk through of the almost 200 images on display in Preston’s streets on Thursday 6 May from 5.30pm on the Enjoy The Show Facebook page.
