Investigation into basement fire in Preston city centre

An investigation has launched after a basement fire in Preston city centre.

Fire crews from Preston, Fulwood and Bamber Bridge were called to the blaze at a commercial building in Grimshaw Street at 9.25pm yesterday (Saturday 8 May).

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Four fire engines from Preston, Fulwood and Bamber Bridge and an aerial ladder platform from Preston were called to a fire involving a basement in a commercial building on Grimshaw Street, Preston.

“Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.”
