Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was injured in a collision in Deepdale Road last night.
The incident happened at around 9.50pm on Saturday 17 April, when a VW Golf collided with the man as he was crossing the road.
The man, believed to be in his seventies, suffered head, chest, arm and leg injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
The car made off from the scene but a man and boy purporting to have been in the vehicle attended Preston Police Station a short time later.
As a result, a 20-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
They both remain in custody at this time.
Sgt Phil Baxendale from Preston Police said: “Firstly my thoughts are with the family of the injured pedestrian who remains very poorly in hospital.
“We need anyone who was driving in the Deepdale Road area and saw what happened to speak to us as you may have important information that could assist our investigation. Similarly, if you may have any dash cam footage, please get in touch.”
