Anonymous leaflet posted through doors opposing Broughton mosque plans
A leaflet has been put through homeowner’s doors around Preston opposing proposals for a new mosque at Broughton.
Outline plans include construction of a new build place of worship, with features including parking facilities and access works from the existing track off D’Urton Lane.
The site is an area of vacant grassland and formerly was a temporary construction compound and storage area for Lancashire County Council.
Prestfest for Families is coming to the Flag Market in August
A free event for families is coming to Preston city centre this summer.
Prestfest for Families is set to take place on Saturday 14 August between 12pm and 4pm.
The event, which doesn’t require a ticket, will take over the Flag Market.
Reps Gym can apply to have closure order lifted and reopen in Covid secure way
Preston City Council has issued a statement confirming that Reps Gym can apply to lift the closure order placed on the premises in February after repeated Covid-19 safety breaches.
The owner of the Ribbleton gym, Steve Todd, was charged with breaching the order in March.
LancsLive reports that Mr Todd lost an appeal against the closure order at Preston Crown Court on Monday (19 April).
Police appealing for information about Fishergate Hill collision where woman suffered serious injuries
Preston Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian suffered serious injuries following a collision with a van in Preston.
Officers were called to Fishergate Hill in Preston at 12.36pm yesterday (20 April) following reports a woman in her 50’s had been struck by a reversing Renault Master high top van.
She was temporarily trapped underneath the vehicle.
Preston Live Arts Festival looking for artists to help celebrate the city
The recently announced Preston Live Arts Festival is inviting applications for local artists to create and submit unique work which celebrates the city of Preston and its people.
Successful commissions of visual artwork will be presented at a ten-day exhibition ‘Preston Awakens’ in the city centre.
Dance, drama and spoken word performances will be hosted at various locations over three scratch nights in the city. Local musicians are also invited to participate.
