A Fulwood woman has celebrated her 100th birthday by handing out cake and Prosecco to friends and neighbours.
Alice Slater turned 100 on Thursday (8 April) and spent the day with her two daughters.
Her son had been planning to visit from Australia, but was unable to due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, so Alice enjoyed video calling him instead.
Alice has lived at the Community Gateway Association sheltered scheme The Filberts since 1994.

As she was unable to have a birthday party with her friends and neighbours, Alice handed out cake and Prosecco to them to celebrate.
Neighbour Brian presented Alice with a framed picture of a newspaper on the day she was born.
When asked how she felt about turning 100, Alice said: “It is just like any other birthday, but it is very special and a great achievement.”

“She is a lovely lady who has made lots of friends on the scheme and enjoys spending time with her friends at coffee mornings.
“Alice is always very cheerful and would be marking her 100th birthday with a large gathering if we were able to.”
