Strong winds are expected from Wednesday

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for much of the UK mid week.

Starting from Wednesday (10 March) and stretching through until Thursday (11 March) at 3pm, Preston residents can expect strong winds and heavy, blustery showers.

There may be delays for high-sided vehicles due to the strong winds and potential for loss of power, delays to transport and public transport may be affected.

A more in-depth forecast says: “Strong and gusty winds are likely to develop on Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday across England and Wales.

“Gusts of 50-55 mph are possible inland, especially close to showers. Gusts may reach 60-70 mph on coasts and hills, especially in the west, before gradually easing on Thursday afternoon.”
