Mayor of Preston, Councillor David Borrow paid tribute saying: “Today we join cities across England and the UK, lowering our flag above Town Hall to half mast as a sign of respect to mark the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore.
“In these incredibly difficult times, Cpt Sir Tom Moore became a beacon of hope, reminding us that “the sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away.” He was a source of inspiration to many and at the age of 100, was able to bring us together to raise a significant sum of money for such an important cause.
“May he rest in peace, and may we not lose sight of the hope he inspired amongst many.”
