Daniel Fisher will run at least a mile every day

A Preston businessman has set himself a goal to run at least one mile per day for 365 days to raise funds for Lancashire Mind.

Daniel Fisher has set out to raise as much as possible for the mental health charity, with an initial target of £3,650, which is £10 per day he runs.

Lancashire Mind is a charity dedicated to making a difference to the mental health of people living and working in Lancashire.

Daniel was inspired to complete the fundraiser after seeing the impact Covid-19 has had on people’s mental health.

Daniel has committed to running at least one mile per day for 365 days with no days off.

Even if he runs any additional distance per day, he will still be required to run at least a mile the following day.

If he does not reach his goal of running at least one mile, 365 days in a row, he will forfeit £1,000 of his own personal money which would be donated to the charity.

Daniel said: “Firstly, let me start by saying I’m not a fan of running unless it involves a football at my feet.

“However, over the last few years, I have learnt a lot about fitness and mental health. I want to show that doing something small every day can make a big impact on your mental wellbeing.

“A mile per day may sound a lot to some people and it may sound a little to others, but this isn’t about the distance, the challenge is in the consistency.

“I want to show people that small things each day can make a big difference and that it’s important to keep going and not give up.

“Since New Years Day, I have been sharing my journey on social media to keep me accountable. No matter where I am in the world, rain or shine, I am going to run.”

You can donate to Daniels fundraiser on his JustGiving page.
