Preston Here For Humanity and West Preston Methodist Church are working together on the Kids Eat First initiative, which starts on Monday 1 March.

A spokesperson for the groups said: “It is apparent that anxieties for families around uniforms, bus fares, dinners and other things relating to school expenses are high.

“We hope to help by ensuring children get hearty meals this week before they return to school, something we think is vital.”

The food will be cooked at Ashton Methodist Church. To apply for the scheme, complete the Kids Eat First form.

The groups will also be making food for the elderly, isolated and homeless. This service can be applied for by using the usual method of emailing help@hereforhumanity.org.uk.
