Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died in a collision in Bamber Bridge.
A 20-year-old man from Walton-le-Dale has died following the incident.
South Ribble Police closed Station Road, near Morrisons, shortly after 1pm following reports of a collision between a man on an electric scooter and a vehicle.
Police have confirmed during Thursday (11 February) evening that the 20-year-old man, who was on an electric scooter, has died as a result of his injuries sustained.
A murder investigation has now been launched and a 25-year-old man from Leyland was being held on suspicion of murder and is in custody.
Police say the man is believed to be the driver of a Ford Transit fan involved in the crash that brought Bamber Bridge to a standstill.

Detective Chief Inspector Zoe Russo, of Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Team, said: “This incident has resulted in the tragic loss of a young man’s life and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this distressing time.
“While we have made an arrest, our enquiries are very much ongoing and so I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or who has CCTV or dashcam footage which may have captured the incident to come forward and contact us.
“We know that the collision followed a wing mirror being hit from the van involved just prior to it happening.”

A second man, 26 and from Bamber Bridge, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in connection to the mirror being struck.
A post mortem examination to establish the cause of the victim’s death will take place in due course.
