Yellow weather warning in place across Preston as icy conditions affect region with more rainfall predicted this afternoon

A yellow weather warning is in place for Preston this morning as the region experiences icy conditions.

The forecast shows scattered showers throughout the morning, at times heavy and wintry with hill snow.

Through the afternoon, rainfall will continue, but with increasing sunny spells inbetween.

The threat of flooding has been downgraded since yesterday after Storm Christoph brought heavy rain on Wednesday, 20 January.

Flooding is still possible in the following locations:

  • Lower River Ribble and Darwen
  • Lower River Wyre
  • Upper River Ribble, Hodder
  • Upper River Wyre, Brock

The ‘immediate action required’ warnings have been removed for:

  • River Ribble at Samlesbury, around Brockholes Reserve and Lower Brockholes Quarry
  • River Ribble at Walton-le-Dale, area from Fishwick Bottoms to Railway Bridge
