Preston City Council releases updates on business grants during lockdown 3

Businesses that have been impacted, or had to close, due to covid-19 could be eligible to financial support.

Preston council has released an update confirming that if a business has previously applied for a grant since October 2020, there is no need to re-apply.

The council will check businesses are still eligible and hope to start making the next payments from the end of this week.

The council will check businesses are still eligible and hope to start making the next payments from the end of this week.

They are currently awaiting guidance & eligibility criteria from Government for the one-off grants of up to £9k aimed at the retail, hospitality and leisure sector announced by the Chancellor this week.

Further updates will be provided when the council are updated.

Businesses in the Preston City Council area are eligible for the grant if they were:

  • open as usual before the restrictions
  • providing services in person to customers from the premises
  • required to close due to local lockdown restrictions imposed by government
  • paying business rates for the premises as at 16 October 2020
