Police are warning motorists of dangerous driving conditions if undertaking essential journeys this weekend.
AdvertisementThe M6 to the south of Preston has been shut in both directions after a lorry struck a bridge and a serious collision took place.
Emergency services are on the scene between Junction 27 to Junction 26 southbound on the motorway after two vehicles were involved in the crash which has blocked all lanes.
Lancashire Police have shut the northbound carriageway to allow the air ambulance to land.
The crash took place shortly after 12noon on Saturday (23 January).

Highways England said a motorway closure is likely until mid-afternoon on Saturday.
Elsewhere frequent snow showers and ice has seen many side roads see a number of crashes in Preston and Lancashire.
Lancashire Road Police said: “We are dealing with numerous RTCs around the county today as you can imagine both on the motorway and surrounding areas.
“All are being asked the nature of their journey and being dealt with if journeys are not necessary. Stay at home unless you need to travel.”
