Investigation after New Year’s Day house fire in Fishwick

An investigation has been launched after a Fishwick house fire during the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Four crews were called to the fire in Andrew Street in the St Matthew’s area at 12.09am today (Friday 1 January).

Paramedics helped one casualty at the scene.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Four fire engines from Preston, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge were called to a house fire on Andrew Street, Preston.

“Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one jet and two ventilation units to extinguish the fire.

“North West Ambulance Service staff assessed one casualty at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”
