We’ve had plenty of news to bring you from Preston over the past week.

Stagecoach announced it’s new timetable for lockdown 3, UCLan shared plans to take literary festival online and Hoghton Tower cancelled its popular annual Farmers’ Market.

Below are five of the stories you might have missed.

New hotel above Angelo’s and Stratos in Preston city centre planned

Plans have been submitted to turn the second floor of Angelo’s and Stratos restaurants and bars into a hotel.

The application states it is to change the use from staff accommodation into a hotel with 14 studio rooms.

There are no plans for an external extension to be added to the building.

These are all the Preston businesses fined or given notices for Covid rule breaches

Multiple Preston businesses have been found to be breaching Covid rules.

They have been included in a list on Preston City Council’s website where businesses have been issued health and safety notices, fixed penalty notices and prohibition notices relating to Covid-19 restriction breaches.

CCTV appeal after Ashton-on-Ribble post office armed robbery 

Police are looking to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV image in relation to an armed robbery at a post office in Ashton-on-Ribble.

At around 5.20pm on 2 December, 2020, two men wearing balaclavas entered the Larches Post Office on Elswick Road with a suspected firearm and made demands for cash.

It is believed that two to three males were waiting outside during the incident with a grey Audi A3 car.

Lancashire police have made a further arrest in relation to a murder of a teenager in Preston.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at an address in Preston this morning (Tuesday 12 January) on suspicion of assisting an offender.

However, they have now been released under investigation.

Lancashire police’s full response to Covid rule breakers

Lancashire Police

Over the weekend multiple coronavirus breaches were reported which included a gym operating, some pubs open and house parties.

More than 360 breaches were recorded and over 100 tickets issued.

Lancashire police have issued a statement reminding people that the lockdown rules are in place to save lives and stop the NHS being overwhelmed.
