Garstang and Over Wyre Police are asking people travelling to beauty spots to only do so if necessary.

Officers have found a small number of people are travelling excessive distances when not needed.

Garstang and Over Wyre police posted on Facebook: “We have been pleased to find most areas have been really quiet.

“In relation to the small number of people we have found out and about we have been asking them where they have travelled from and seeing if their journey was absolutely necessary.

“We are still finding a small minority who think it’s okay to travel some distance to go for some exercise.

“Whilst the regulations do not prevent this, we are asking that members of the public do their exercise local to where they live and not to travel far distances or to beauty spots.”
