A planning application has been submitted to create a huge new education centre as part of the Phoenix Park masterplan.
AdvertisementPlans, which were validated this week by the city council, also include a dry ski slope and an education centre for Pioneer Tec students.
There will also be student accommodation and a leisure facility, including new sports pitches, car parking and compound to be used in conjunction with existing training and leisure facilities on site.
The aim is also to make the development environmentally friendly by using renewable energy sources.

In order to facilitate this the site will move from petrol powered motocross and go karts onto electric replacements.
The plans also mention that there will be wind turbines in order to provide energy.
The development is not due to begin until 2022 but owner Eddie Sloane has been running Trax Motorsport since 2000 whilst also educating vulnerable young people.
Mr Sloane told LancsLive how the education centre is one part of his vision for the Phoenix Park site spanning the site at Wallend Road just down from Preston Docks and the banks of the River Ribble.
Some existing buildings will be demolished in order to create a single building known as the Pioneer Training and Education Centre.

This will be the main centrepiece with a ski slope on site with a mountain biking track next to it.
The Pioneer Building will be a modern, residential education and training centre for young people who are placed in the looked after care system, or have been excluded from school.
Members of the public will be able to use all of the facilities including go-karts, motocross, surfing and skiing.
