Staff at the Preston SPAR depot are busy spreading Christmas cheer while raising funds for end of life care charity, Marie Curie.
AdvertisementThe company is hosting a variety of virtual festive fundraising activities to help bring staff together despite many working from home, in bubbles or newly implemented rotas.
One of the activities has seen staff from the warehouse and offices at Bowland View dancing to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas. They are now asking colleagues from other SPAR shops and production premises to join in with their own socially distanced videos.

Peter Dodding, Sales and Marketing Director at James Hall and Co., SPAR wholesaler for the north of England, said “This year has certainly been a difficult one and SPAR staff have worked above and beyond to keep essential services going.
“We have so many different roles within the company and staff are located across the north of England, in SPAR stores, production and warehouse facilities, on the road or working from home.
“Our virtual Christmas fundraiser aims to bring everyone together and celebrate the fantastic teamwork staff have demonstrated over such a challenging year.”
Alongside the festive fundraiser, SPAR has launched an initiative that enables Marie Curie nurses in the North of England to collect essential PPE from their local SPAR store.
Peter said: “Nurses have been able to collect a month’s supply of PPE from their nearest SPAR store – including a network of independent SPAR retailers and company owned stores – all of who are thrilled to play a small part in ensuring Marie Curie’s team of dedicated nurses can continue to deliver such a vital service.
“We are absolutely delighted that we can help save time and money for the charity to spend where it is needed most.
“Marie Curie’s services have never been more in demand so please visit our JustGiving page and give what you can.”
