A lab manager at Specsavers Preston recently completed a 150km November fundraiser for the Royal British Legion, finishing the challenge with 64km and £285 more than initially planned.
Andy Wright signed up for ‘My Poppy Run 2020’ alongside a community of fellow runners across the UK.
He quickly found himself nearing his initial target goal of £250. However, even after reaching the 150km challenge target well before the month was up, Andy decided to keep on running.
Continuing to push himself and log his runs, Andy completed the challenge on 30 November having clocked in at 213.6km, raising £535 for The Royal British Legion in the process.

Speaking about the challenge, Andy said: “Seeing as though the gyms were shut during the second lockdown, I thought this would be a useful way to keep fit and raise some much needed funds for the charity.
“Although it was tough sometimes, what with the British weather against me, it was great to see such a kind group of supporters who were following my challenge.
“I initially had set an aspirational target of £250, but I soon realised that we were definitely going to top that figure.
“I did some of the runs with my partner, Bev, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable. I’d highly recommend getting involved with an exercise-based fundraiser if possible.
“It’s more important than ever to look after our physical and mental health, so you may as well raise some funds at the same time if you can!”
