Tuesday, 8 December marked the first day of the Pfizer/BioNtech coronavirus vaccine being rolled out and administered to key workers in the UK.
Preston care home Penwortham Grange & Lodge acted efficiently to ensure 30 members of staff at the home were ready for the first round of vaccinations at the Royal Preston Hospital.

The home received notification from Royal Preston Hospital on Monday afternoon that bookings were available.
Home Manager, Mellisa Thompson, worked tirelessly to collate the details of staff members at short notice.
Thanks to her hard work, 44 per cent of the staff team were ready to receive their vaccination less than 48 hours later.

CEO of the carehome Hayden Knight said: “This is absolutely brilliant news and I’m really proud of the team at Penwortham for organising everything so quickly.
“It is testament to the ongoing hard work of Orchard Care Homes staff that we were prepared to become one of the first recipients of this vaccine. Finally, some good news to come out of this awful pandemic.”
