Luv Preston food bank sees demand for their service grow dramatically during 2020

Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, many people have become reliant on food banks.

Luv Preston deliver food parcels weekly to those in need of emergency food provisions.

The Food bank is run in partnership with local churches: The Freedom Centre and St Christophers Lea.

Since the start of 2020, Luv Preston have seen the amount of people needing help increase dramatically.

They would usually help hundreds of struggling residents, but now they help way over 1,000 a week to put food on their tables.

All food is delivered by volunteers.

The Christmas period is an especially difficult time for disadvantaged Prestonians, and Luv Preston rely on the generosity of locals.

Recently they have gratefully received donations from Cardinal Newman College, Altius Group and Myrescough Football.

The donations will go straight to people in need across Preston.

A service user of Luv Preston said: “They have provided me with food over the last few weeks and their help and support has been invaluable to me and I am sure many others.”

Luv Preston keep a store of non-perishable foods for making up parcels, and always welcome donations from individuals and organisations.
