Investigation after shipping containers blaze in Preston

An investigation is underway after a fire near Preston city centre this morning (Sunday 6 December).

Fire crews from Preston and Penwortham were called to the blaze in Great George Street just after 6am.

The fire involved tyres and shipping containers.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Three fire engines from Preston and Penwortham were called to a fire involving a number of tyres and shipping containers on Great George Street.

“Firefighters used one foam jet to extinguish the fire, and a joint police and fire investigation is now underway.”
