Ranvir Singh has left Strictly Come Dancing following an emotional dance-off.
After her Waltz and Jive on Saturday night, Ranvir and professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard.
On Sunday night’s results show it was revealed Ranvir would be in the dance-off, taking on TV personality Jamie Laing and partner Karen Hauer.
On hearing the news, Ranvir said: “It’s okay, I kind of expected it because we were at the bottom of the leaderboard.
“I love the feeling of dancing this dance with Giovanni, so we’re halfway there.”
After the dance-off, in which Ranvir and Giovanni danced the Waltz to Un Giorni Per Noi, judge Craig Revel Hopwood described Ranvir’s performance as dreamy, but opted to save Jamie.
Motsi Mabuse chose to save Ranvir, meaning head judge Shirley Ballas had the deciding vote.
After Shirley voted for Jamie, meaning Ranvir and Giovanni would be out of the competition, Ranvir apologised to Giovanni, with the Italian dance pro responding: “Don’t be sorry. Well done to you, it’s the best thing I could have asked for.”
As she consoled Ranvir, Strictly host Tess Daly told the TV presenter how she had inspired so many people.
Ranvir said: “It’s been the most magical thing in the world
“There’s been some really beautiful moments, so much more than I expected.
“I’m sad not to be in the final, but at the same time I’m glad we moved people to tears and the Argentine Tango was an amazing moment.”
Turning to Giovanni, she said: “I couldn’t have got this far without you.”
An emotional Giovanni responded: “You truly are an amazing person inside and out. Now I hope you feel happier in your life because you deserve it.”
